Personally, my Evernote use has evolved over time to make the most of the mobile and organizational features. You can upgrade to their premium features and storage capacity for around $45 per year (they also have monthly plans). It also analyses images and PDFs and converts text to a searchable format! The basic features of Evernote are free with up to 60 mb storage per month. One of the most notable features of Evernote is the ability to tag and organize your notes so you can easily locate them. It is also integrated into numerous applications for storage and access to notes and files. They have a great web clipper for chrome, safari, Firefox etc that allows you to directly store we pages from your browser. It allows you to create notes using their text editor,as well as store HTML pages, PDFs, images and sound files. The software that I decided to use to enable this transition? Evernote! This is a fantastic platform that stores your notes in the cloud and allows you to effortlessly access them across a plethora of platforms. So I decided to take a new approach this year and make the slow journey to a paperless existence. On top of this, I end up with a collection of paper notes, printed PowerPoint slides, word documents and PDFs that make studying and sorting through the mess a nightmare when preparing for exams. It seems that every week I have a new stack of papers sitting on my desk waiting to be added to the other stacks of paper from the preceding weeks. In this age of computers and digital files I continue to wonder why medical school has caused me to accumulate so much paper and junk.
